 Business Week, Associated Press

Verizon Communications' business segment has received a 10-year contract worth up to $2.5 billion to continue to provide network and data services at global U.S. Department of Defense locations.

Under the Defense Information System Network Transmission Services -- Pacific II contract, Verizon Business will remain the provider of telecommunications services at military installations and other government sites located in the Asia-Pacific region, Canada, the Caribbean, Central America and South America, the Middle East and the United States.

If all options are exercised, the deal has a maximum value of $2.5 billion.

Verizon Business said it will provide services ranging from individual circuits to managed transmission services over fiber or satellite, or both. The company also will provide managed data services including Internet protocol, Ethernet and Internet services.
