2020 Voting Procedures & How to Vote Safely

We want to make sure you’re aware of some significant changes to the election process this year and what your options are for voting safely.

VOTE BY MAIL

Every New Yorker is now able to vote absentee in this Primary Election. Make sure you request your ballot today!

This is a two-step process:

1. Voters must fill out an absentee ballot application and mail it back in order to receive the actual absentee ballot.

  • You can request your absentee ballot application right now by filling out the form here.
  • Fill out and return your ballot application to your local Election Office (address will be provided)

2. You’ll receive the absentee ballot in time for the June 23 Primary. Your ballot MUST be postmarked by June 22nd in order to be counted.

  • You should receive your absentee ballot no less than 32 days before the June 23 Election Day.
  • Once you receive your absentee ballot application, fill out your application in blue or black ink, and return the completed application using the postage-paid envelope.
  • Your ballot must be postmarked by June 22nd.

The New York State Board of Elections will automatically mail every registered voter a postage-paid absentee ballot application. But we strongly urge you to follow Step 1 above to receive an application ASAP.

In order to receive a ballot, you must fill out and return the absentee ballot application.

VOTE IN PERSON

Early Voting for the Primary Election: June 13 - June 21.

Election Day: June 23

If you don’t vote by mail, then we highly recommend voting early rather than on the June 23 Election Day, when social distancing will be most difficult.
